Delta Air Lines has officially launched its inaugural nonstop flight connecting Atlanta, Georgia, to Marrakech, Morocco, marking a historic milestone in the airline's expanding global network. The first flight, operated by a Boeing 767-400ER, landed at Marrakech Menara Airport today, symbolizing a strengthened partnership between the United States and Morocco.

Delta emphasized the strategic and cultural significance of the route, describing it as a gateway to one of the world’s most vibrant destinations. It also positions Marrakech, known as Morocco’s “Red City,” as a major hub for American travelers seeking both leisure and cultural experiences.

The new service will operate three times a week, with flights departing Atlanta on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and return flights leaving Marrakech on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. From December 18 through January 6, 2026, Delta will increase its service to daily flights to meet the surge in holiday travel demand.

Christine Marchand-Pardo, Delta’s Managing Director of EMEAI Operations, highlighted the importance of the new route, calling it an “exciting milestone” in the airline’s commitment to connecting the United States with Africa. She noted that the route not only simplifies travel but also delivers Delta’s premium experience, featuring lie-flat seats in Delta One, curated dining options, and top-tier amenities across all cabins.

“This route opens the door to one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich destinations, making travel more seamless for our customers. With three weekly flights, we’re delivering convenience alongside Delta’s renowned premium service,” Marchand-Pardo said.

The new air connection also strengthens Atlanta’s position as a leading global hub. Delta highlighted that Marrakech is now linked to over 125 U.S. cities via its global hub in Atlanta, enabling seamless connections to destinations such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Miami, and San Francisco.

This new route is Delta’s latest expansion into North Africa, adding Marrakech to its growing African network, which includes Accra, Lagos, Dakar, Cape Town, and Johannesburg.

Delta’s announcement also reflects the broader strengthening of U.S.-Morocco relations. The two nations share a free trade agreement, which has facilitated significant growth in bilateral trade, rising from $34 million in 2005 to $3.4 billion in 2024.

The flight’s launch underscores Delta’s commitment to enhancing global connectivity, while also making Marrakech more accessible to U.S. travelers seeking cultural and historical adventures in Morocco.
