Dounia Batma Begins Prison Sentence in Marrakech
Dounia Batma finds herself behind bars in Marrakech's Loudaya Prison after her last-ditch appeals were dismissed by the Court of Cassation. The arrest, which took place on Wednesday in Casablanca, marks the latest development in the prolonged legal battle surrounding the "Hamza Mon Bébé" case.
Batma, was apprehended by judicial authorities at approximately 5 PM while seeking refuge at a friend's apartment. Reports indicate that she had been in hiding following the court's definitive ruling against her, which was delivered the day before.
This recent turn of events concludes a lengthy legal ordeal for Batma, who originally faced an 8-month sentence in 2020 in connection with the "Hamza Mon Bébé" affair. Subsequently, the Marrakech Court of Appeal extended her sentence to a full year in 2021.
Throughout the legal proceedings, Batma has vehemently asserted her innocence, alleging that she has been targeted in a concerted effort to sabotage her music career.
