Marrakech police have arrested a 44-year-old French national of Algerian origin who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judiciary. The operation took place on Tuesday, according to a security source.

The suspect was identified during a database check with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), which confirmed a red notice for his alleged involvement in an international drug trafficking network. French authorities accuse him of participating, between 2020 and 2021, in the organization of drug shipments to southern France.

Following his arrest, the suspect was placed under extradition procedures and brought before the competent public prosecutor. French security services have been notified of his detention.

This operation is part of Morocco’s ongoing security cooperation with international partners to apprehend individuals sought worldwide for cross-border criminal activities.
