French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, seeking to strengthen Europe’s role in shaping future peace efforts for Ukraine. Macron urged coordination between the United States and Europe, stressing that unity remains essential as diplomatic momentum grows toward a possible settlement of the conflict. He emphasized that Ukraine needs security guarantees to deter future aggression from Russia once the war ends.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his government is monitoring the ongoing discussions in Florida between U.S. and Ukrainian officials. Kyiv, he added, is working to understand “any new arguments or pressures Moscow may be preparing to prolong the war.”

At the same time, the Kremlin acknowledged the involvement of American envoys, including Jared Kushner, in renewed negotiations. Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov welcomed Washington’s diplomatic engagement but insisted that some of the U.S. proposals remain “unacceptable” to Russia.

Despite these diplomatic efforts, violence continued overnight as Russian drones struck a residential area in central Ukraine, killing a 12-year-old boy. Ukrainian forces responded with targeted strikes on a Russian port and oil facility. These fresh attacks underscored the fragility of the conflict’s current phase, even as talks intensify on multiple fronts to secure a path toward eventual peace.
