FIAT introduces TRIS electric three-wheeler for sustainable urban mobility
FIAT Professional has unveiled its first-ever three-wheeled electric vehicle, the TRIS, manufactured in Morocco. This innovative vehicle aims to enhance last-mile delivery services across Africa and Middle East (MEA) markets through sustainable B2B micromobility solutions.
According to a press release from Stellantis, the fully electric TRIS offers a range of 90 km and is available in three configurations: chassis-cabin, flatbed, and pick-up. Designed at Centro Stile in Italy, the TRIS is positioned as an affordable ultra-light commercial vehicle.
“TRIS is more than just a new vehicle—it’s a breakthrough in how we think about urban mobility,” stated Olivier Francois, FIAT CEO and Stellantis Global Chief Marketing Officer. “With its debut in the Middle East and Africa, TRIS is set to transform last-mile mobility and open new doors to economic empowerment and social inclusion.”
The name “TRIS” reflects the vehicle’s three wheels, modular design, and distinctive three-light LED arrangement. Its straightforward pronunciation ensures global appeal across multiple languages.
Samir Cherfan, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis for the MEA region, emphasized the vehicle’s significance for urban development. “As the MEA region’s urban population grows by 3% annually, micromobility offers a scalable and sustainable solution to growing congestion and transport deficits,” he noted.
The TRIS features a compact size of just 3.17 meters in length, with a tight 3.05-meter turning radius, making it well-suited for narrow city streets. It provides approximately 2.25 square meters of load space capable of accommodating a standard euro pallet, with a Gross Vehicle Weight of 1,025 kg and a maximum payload capacity of 540 kg.
Equipped with a 48-volt electric motor delivering 9 kW peak power and 45 Nm maximum torque, the TRIS reaches a top speed of 45 km/h. Its 6.9 kWh lithium battery ensures a 90 km range, adequate for daily professional use in urban and suburban environments.
Charging is designed for convenience, featuring an integrated smart charging system. The TRIS can be charged from 0 to 80% in just 3.5 hours and fully recharged in 4 hours and 40 minutes using a standard domestic plug.
The vehicle includes a 5.7-inch digital cluster displaying essential driving information, USB-C and 12V power sockets, and LED lighting with FIAT’s new signature pixel design. It complies with European homologation standards, equipped with three-point seat belts, front LED lighting, a reverse buzzer, and a washer tank.
FIAT Professional is positioning the TRIS as a flexible solution, offering leasing and lease-to-own options to empower entrepreneurs and economic workers. The vehicle is anticipated to serve a broad range of professional applications, from urban logistics to mobile businesses and essential transportation services.
