France: Child-like sex doll intercepted by police in Bouches-du-Rhône
A sex doll resembling a preteen, sold by the Chinese online retailer Shein, was intercepted on Monday in a package destined for Bouc-Bel-Air in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. The recipient was arrested by the gendarmerie and taken into custody. An investigation has been opened by the Aix-en-Provence public prosecutor, and the suspect is expected to face judicial proceedings.
The DGCCRF, France’s consumer protection authority, had previously flagged the sale of these products, confirming their clearly pedopornographic nature. In response, Shein removed the items from its platform and stated it is willing to fully cooperate with the authorities, providing the names and contact details of French buyers. French Economy Minister Roland Lescure had threatened to ban the company in France.
