French Prime Minister considers measures to boost household purchasing power

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu is exploring several measures aimed at increasing the purchasing power of French households, according to his office. The announcement comes as trade unions stage nationwide demonstrations to influence the upcoming budget.

Although no decisions have been finalized, the Prime Minister is reportedly considering options such as tax exemptions and social contribution reductions for overtime work, as well as income tax cuts for couples earning the minimum wage. Other proposals include the reintroduction of the "Macron bonus," a tax-free and contribution-free reward for employees, and measures encouraging wealth transfers to grandchildren and younger generations.

Lecornu’s office emphasized that ensuring citizens can live comfortably from their work and maintain disposable income remains a key concern for the government.
