Fulbright Futures Event Showcases Alumni's Impact on Moroccan Development
The Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange (MACECE) hosted a study day in Casablanca on Thursday, aimed at fostering professional development, collaboration, and networking opportunities among Moroccan alumni of the Fulbright Program.
Entitled “Fulbright Futures: Empowering Alumni, Driving Change,” the event welcomed over 60 participants, including graduates of the Fulbright study grant and joint supervision programs pursuing master’s or PhD degrees.
In a statement to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP), Fulbright Morocco’s Executive Director Rebecca Geffner described MACECE as “a binational initiative co-financed by the US and Moroccan governments. Its mission is to promote greater mutual understanding between the two nations.”
Geffner emphasized the scope of the program, highlighting its 14 exchange opportunities for Moroccans wishing to study, conduct research, or develop skills in the United States, as well as reciprocal programs for Americans in Morocco.
The event brought together Moroccan alumni from the past five years to share their experiences in the United States and explore the next stages of their Fulbright journeys. Geffner noted that participants gained “tangible insights into the Moroccan job market,” enhancing their ability to apply their skills and knowledge effectively.
The Fulbright exchange program remains one of the most prestigious of its kind. Alumni often emerge as highly sought-after professionals in Morocco, reflecting the program’s enduring value in fostering academic and professional excellence.
