Tensions in Gaza and southern Lebanon escalated over the weekend as Israeli airstrikes claimed multiple lives in both regions. In Gaza, the Civil Defense reported that seven people were killed in new Israeli strikes targeting central and northern areas of the territory, amid renewed accusations between Israel and Hamas of violating a fragile truce established earlier this week.

According to Mahmoud Bassal, a spokesperson for the civil defense operating under Hamas, three fatalities occurred in Gaza City in the north, three in Deir al-Balah in the center, and one in the Nousseirat area.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced it had killed an armed militant in the southern part of Gaza who, according to the military, fired at Israeli soldiers and crossed a designated security line.

The conflict has also spread to southern Lebanon, where the Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed the death of a civilian in an Israeli strike in Zawtar el-Charqiyeh. The victim, identified as Kamel Reda Qarnabash, was killed when his vehicle was hit. Additionally, a drone-launched projectile injured five people in Chaqra.

Israeli forces stated that they had targeted Hezbollah operatives and military sites in the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon. Further strikes were reported elsewhere in the region, although no additional casualties have been confirmed.

The ongoing hostilities underline the fragility of the truce and the heightened risk to civilians across Gaza and southern Lebanon, raising concerns among international observers about further escalation in the region.
