Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, who passed away Thursday at the age of 91, will be buried on Monday afternoon in a private family ceremony in a northern Italian village, local authorities announced.

The private funeral will take place at the small San Martino Church in the medieval village of Rivalta, about 100 kilometers south of Milan, according to the Association of Castles of the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza, and Pontremoli. Armani frequently visited the village, where his mother is also buried.

Security measures will be in place to ensure the confidentiality of the ceremony, scheduled for 3:30 pm local time (1:30 pm GMT). Milan’s mayor, Giuseppe Sala, has declared a day of mourning in the city.

Thousands of mourners continued to pay their respects at Armani’s lying-in-state at the Armani Teatro in Milan until Sunday evening. Notable attendees included former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, composer Ludovico Einaudi, Napoli FC president Aurelio De Laurentiis, and tennis players Fabio Fognini and Flavia Pennetta. Lavish floral tributes were laid at the entrance of the hall, where the coffin rested surrounded by lanterns. Tributes poured in from Hollywood stars, politicians, and figures from the luxury fashion world, honoring Armani’s legacy as an iconic designer and empire builder in the fashion industry.
