GreenChemAfrica, an initiative supported by OCP Group, is gaining momentum as a leading platform for training African scientists in green chemistry. The program aims to address key challenges related to sustainability, environmental protection, and food security across the continent.

The third edition of GreenChemAfrica will take place from April 19 to 24, 2026, at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Benguerir. This new edition confirms the initiative’s growing role as a pan-African reference platform for promoting sustainable scientific models and innovation.

The program is expanding its reach with the participation of additional countries, including Mauritania and Ethiopia, strengthening its continental dimension. It is led under the coordination of Professor Yousef Habibi, Professor & Director of the Sustainable Materials Research Center at UM6P, who oversees the scientific orientation and development of the initiative.

With 91 participants from 17 countries in previous editions, GreenChemAfrica has already demonstrated a strong impact. It is recognized for its practical outcomes, including scholarships and professional integration opportunities. The program also reports a satisfaction rate of 90%, with 97.4% of participants considering the content relevant and over 92% gaining practical skills in green chemistry.

By combining academic excellence, applied research, and continental cooperation, GreenChemAfrica continues to position itself as a key driver of Africa’s transition toward sustainable and environmentally responsible development.
