A violent dispute between members of two families escalated into a gunfight on Sunday in the village of Bebnine-Abdeh, located in Lebanon’s northern Akkar region, leaving seven people injured, according to local reports.

Most of the victims were bystanders not directly involved in the conflict, including a young girl. All injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, with two of them reported to be in critical condition.

The shooting caused widespread panic in the area, leading to a temporary shutdown of roads in and around the village. Calm was eventually restored after the intervention of a Lebanese Army patrol and mediation efforts by local community leaders.

This incident highlights ongoing security challenges in the Akkar region, where longstanding family rivalries and weak state presence sometimes result in violent altercations.
