HEM Business & Engineering School is set to host an open talk featuring Tarik Sektioui, the coach of Morocco’s national Olympic football team, on Friday, September 26, at its Casablanca campus. The event, scheduled for 6 p.m., will center on leadership and teamwork lessons inspired by the world of sports.

The session, titled “Leadership and team spirit: lessons from the field,” will be moderated by Khalid Azdoune, a journalist with Al Oula channel. Open to students, media representatives, and the general public, the talk aims to demonstrate how sports foster leadership, collaboration, and resilience in the face of challenges. Interested attendees are encouraged to register in advance, as seating is limited.

Organizers emphasized that the event offers a unique opportunity to learn from Sektioui’s vast experience, inspiring the audience to explore the potential of sports as a tool for personal and professional growth. HEM also highlighted its commitment to using sports as a medium for education and youth development.

Tarik Sektioui, a former international footballer, has built a distinguished career both on and off the pitch. Known for his speed and technical skills as a player, he enjoyed a successful club career in Europe, representing Willem II and AZ in the Netherlands, and FC Porto in Portugal, where he secured multiple Primeira Liga titles and two Supertaças Cândido de Oliveira.

On the international stage, Sektioui was part of Morocco’s U-20 team that won the 1997 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named the tournament’s best player. He also represented Morocco at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

As a coach, Sektioui has managed several top Moroccan clubs, including Maghreb de Fès, Wydad Fès, and RS Berkane, leading the latter to victory in the 2019–20 CAF Confederation Cup. In 2024, he took charge of Morocco’s U-23 national team, guiding them to a historic bronze medal at the Paris Olympics – Morocco’s first Olympic medal in a team sport.

Sektioui’s coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, tactical acumen, and nurturing young talent, making him a prominent figure in Moroccan football. His achievements reflect his dedication to elevating the sport while inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Through this initiative, HEM seeks to bridge the gap between sports, education, and societal development, offering young people a platform that encourages both personal and professional growth.
