The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) has approved the appointment of Hussein Al-Cheikh as the new Vice President of the organization and the State of Palestine. This decision follows a proposal by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in accordance with the directives of the Palestinian Central Council, which established this new position.
The official announcement was made during an Executive Committee meeting held in Ramallah this Saturday, and the news was reported by the Palestinian News Agency. Additionally, another committee meeting is scheduled for next week to elect its future secretary.
Hussein Al-Cheikh is a prominent political figure, having previously been appointed Secretary-General of the PLO Executive Committee in 2022. He has also held key roles, including serving as the Minister of Civil Affairs for the Palestinian Authority and as a member of the Fatah Central Committee.
