The 93rd session of the Interpol General Assembly officially began on Monday in Marrakech, Morocco, gathering senior law enforcement officials and police chiefs from its 196 member countries. This annual meeting, Interpol’s highest governing body, is the world’s largest forum for police leaders to strategize on international cooperation against crime.

The opening ceremony featured addresses by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance in Morocco, and Interpol President Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi. Several high-ranking officials also attended, including Morocco’s Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, and other key government figures. A video presentation highlighted the progress and modernization of Moroccan police institutions over the years.

As the supreme decision-making assembly, this session sets the course for future Interpol policies and operations. Major topics on the agenda include dismantling transnational organized crime networks, combating international fraud centers, enhancing global policing capabilities, promoting women’s roles in law enforcement, reviewing the Silver Notice pilot project for vulnerable persons, and encouraging the ratification of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.

Morocco’s hosting of this influential event underscores its strategic importance and leadership in regional and international security matters, recognized for its effective efforts against terrorism and cross-border crime under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The gathering fosters stronger ties among member states and shared expertise to address evolving global threats.
