Iran executes six people convicted of “terrorism”
Iran announced on Saturday that it had executed six members of a group found guilty of carrying out “terrorist” attacks in the country’s main oil-producing region, Khuzestan.
According to the judiciary’s official website Mizan, “the death sentence against six separatist terrorists responsible for a series of armed and bomb attacks in recent years was carried out at dawn.”
Khuzestan, a southwestern province home to much of Iran’s oil infrastructure and a large Arab minority, has been the scene of recurrent unrest and separatist tensions.
