Iran strikes israel's tech hub: microsoft center in be’er sheva targeted amid escalating conflict
Iran has launched a missile strike on the Microsoft center in Be’er Sheva, southern Israel, targeting a critical hub for technology and military operations. The attack caused severe damage to the facility and surrounding infrastructure, including residential areas and a railway station, leaving several vehicles ablaze and injuring at least seven people.
The missile assault was concentrated on the Gav-Yam Negev Advanced Technologies Park, a site known for hosting military and cyber facilities that are integral to Israel’s defense strategies. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility, accusing Microsoft of aiding Israel’s military operations in artificial intelligence and espionage. Reports indicate that up to three missiles were launched, with at least one bypassing Israel's advanced air defense systems.
Videos from the scene revealed a crater in a residential parking lot and widespread destruction, prompting the temporary closure of the Be’er Sheva North-University railway station. Although the station has since reopened, the attack has heightened tensions between the two nations. Iranian state media confirmed the strike, with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei calling it a "punishment" for Israel’s actions.
This incident comes amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran following an extensive Israeli military campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. Israel’s operations, reportedly years in planning and heavily reliant on advanced technology like drones and artificial intelligence, have struck Iranian military sites, nuclear research centers, and high-ranking personnel.
In retaliation, Iran has launched hundreds of missiles into southern Israel, testing the limits of Israel’s defense systems. The conflict has also spilled into the cyber domain; Iran has allegedly hacked Israeli home security cameras to monitor missile impacts and troop movements, prompting Israeli cybersecurity officials to urge citizens to secure their devices.
The ongoing clashes have resulted in significant casualties, with Iran reporting over 200 deaths from Israeli strikes, while Israel has acknowledged dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries from Iranian missile attacks. As both sides intensify their military and cyber campaigns, the situation remains volatile, further destabilizing the region.
