Justice delays verdict in beach accident that injured young Ghita
Berrechid, August 6, 2025 — The Court of First Instance in Berrechid has decided to postpone the hearing of a young man accused of hitting a child with a quad bike on the beach of Sidi Rahal. The session, originally scheduled for this Wednesday, has been rescheduled to August 13.
The adjournment comes as the court awaits the results of a medical evaluation ordered at the previous hearing, intended to assess the health condition of the victim, Ghita, a young girl who sustained serious head injuries in the incident.
Ghita, who had come from Italy with her family to spend the summer holidays in Morocco, was struck on June 15 by a man in his twenties operating a quad bike pulling a jet-ski along the crowded beach.
The accident sparked outrage and concern among beachgoers and families, many of whom criticized the lack of safety measures in public beach areas. Witnesses expressed shock that motorized vehicles were allowed in zones full of children and families during the high tourist season.
