FBI director Kash Patel has firmly dismissed speculation surrounding his potential resignation, following backlash against the FBI and Department of Justice (DoJ) decision to withhold further information on Jeffrey Epstein’s case. The decision, which has reignited conspiracy theories, has drawn criticism from prominent right-wing figures.

Patel rejects conspiracy claims

In a statement on Saturday, Patel addressed the rumors head-on, declaring, “The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been. It’s an honor to serve the President of the United States – and I’ll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me.” His comments came amid increasing scrutiny over the FBI-DoJ memo, which concluded there was no credible evidence of Epstein using blackmail or maintaining a so-called “client list.”

Right-wing backlash

MAGA-aligned figures, including Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, have voiced anger over the decision to block further disclosure of Epstein-related files. FBI deputy director Dan Bongino has also reportedly clashed with DoJ officials, with insiders claiming his frustration over the case has led him to consider resignation.

Sources allege Bongino had a heated confrontation with Attorney General Pam Bondi, with one insider stating, “He’s furious. This has destroyed his career. He’s threatening to quit unless Bondi is removed.”

Memo findings

The controversial memo outlined the conclusions of a systematic review of over 300GB of data and physical evidence, including explicit videos and images linked to Epstein’s activities. It stated, “No incriminating ‘client list’ was uncovered, nor any evidence of blackmail involving prominent individuals.” Moreover, officials dismissed long-standing conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death, reiterating the conclusion that he died by suicide.

Despite this, critics have continued to question the integrity of the investigation, with some citing alleged gaps in surveillance footage from Epstein’s prison cell. Bondi defended the missing footage, explaining it was due to routine equipment resets.

Trump deflects questions

Former President Donald Trump, who faced renewed questions about his past ties with Epstein, expressed frustration when asked about the case. “Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?” he said. “This guy’s been talked about for years… It’s unbelievable.”

Ongoing skepticism

While the FBI and DoJ insist the case is closed, conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein continue to thrive among right-wing influencers. The narrative remains a cornerstone of broader accusations against what some describe as a “deep state” conspiracy.

No evidence has emerged to support claims that Epstein engaged in a blackmail scheme targeting high-profile figures, including Britain’s Prince Andrew, at his properties in New York, Florida, New Mexico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
