Landslide in Indonesia kills seven, leaves more than 80 missing
A landslide struck Indonesia’s main island of Java in the early hours of Saturday, killing at least seven people and leaving more than 80 others missing, according to the country’s National Disaster Management Agency.
The incident occurred in the West Bandung area of West Java province, where heavy soil movement buried homes and surrounding areas. Abdul Muhari, a spokesperson for the disaster agency, confirmed that rescue teams are continuing search operations amid challenging conditions.
Authorities reported that at least 83 people are currently unaccounted for, raising concerns that the death toll could rise as emergency crews work to reach affected communities. Indonesia, which frequently experiences natural disasters, is particularly vulnerable to landslides during periods of heavy rainfall.
