Lebanon urged to ban Roblox over child safety concerns
Beirut, August 25, 2025 — The Lebanese Association for Statistics, Training and Development has called on the government to ban the online gaming platform Roblox, citing risks of harassment and sexual exploitation for children using the service.
Roblox, a platform that allows users to create and share games, is already banned in Turkey and faces pressure in the United States due to concerns over inadequate safety measures for young players.
In a statement, the Lebanese association, founded in 2010 to support the development of national statistical data and educational initiatives, urged multiple ministries — including Telecommunications, Information, Social Affairs, and Youth and Sports — to act against the platform, warning of its growing dangers.
The organization highlighted that Roblox has become a space for pornographic and violent content and a venue for minor harassment by adults through chat rooms. They estimate that at least 30% of Lebanese children aged 8 to 16 have tried or regularly use Roblox, exposing tens of thousands to educational, psychological, and safety risks.
Roblox’s own guidelines claim a zero-tolerance policy toward child exploitation, and since November 2024, certain chat features have been restricted to users aged 13 and over. The platform’s co-founder emphasized in March 2025 that millions enjoy positive experiences on Roblox, while parents concerned about their children’s use should supervise access.
