London heathrow terminal 4 evacuated after hazardous materials incident
The check-in area of Terminal 4 at London’s Heathrow Airport was closed and evacuated on Monday evening following what authorities described as a potentially hazardous incident requiring the intervention of emergency services.
“Please do not travel to Terminal 4. Staff are assisting passengers on site,” airport officials said in a statement shared on social media.
According to the London Fire Brigade, firefighters were called to deal with a “potentially dangerous incident involving hazardous materials.” Specialized teams were deployed to assess the situation, and parts of the airport were evacuated as a precaution while emergency crews worked to secure the area.
National Rail confirmed that trains were unable to stop at Terminal 4 station during the incident. Heathrow officials, however, stressed that “all other terminals are operating normally.”
Heathrow, the UK’s busiest international airport located west of London, has not yet provided further details on the nature of the materials involved. Passengers at the affected terminal reported disruptions and delays as emergency teams remained on site.
