LOT Polish Airlines launches direct flights between Warsaw and Marrakech
Polish national carrier LOT Polish Airlines inaugurated its first direct flight between Warsaw and Marrakech on Tuesday, enhancing air connectivity between Poland and Morocco. The new route aims to boost tourism and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
The inaugural flight, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8, departed from Warsaw’s Chopin Airport and landed at Marrakech-Menara Airport at approximately 2:00 p.m. The event marked a milestone for the airline, with passengers, company representatives, and special guests on board to celebrate the occasion.
The service will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as part of the airline’s 2025-2026 winter schedule. Flight LO163 departs Warsaw at 9:50 a.m., while the return flight LO164 leaves Marrakech at 3:35 p.m., arriving back in Warsaw in the late evening. These schedules are designed to ensure seamless connections with LOT’s extensive domestic and European network.
This new direct route follows months of collaboration between the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and LOT Polish Airlines, culminating in a formal partnership agreement. According to Aziz Mnii, ONMT’s representative in Warsaw, the route is expected to significantly boost Polish tourism to Morocco, which saw nearly 136,000 Polish travelers in 2024.
Laila Boulejiouch, representing the Moroccan Embassy in Warsaw, highlighted that the route aligns with efforts to deepen bilateral relations and elevate the Moroccan-Polish partnership. She emphasized the commercial and economic benefits of increased connectivity for both nations.
By launching this route, LOT Polish Airlines expands its presence in North Africa, providing Central and Eastern European travelers with a new gateway to Morocco. The Warsaw-Marrakech route also complements existing services, such as those offered by low-cost carrier Wizz Air, further increasing travel options for passengers.
