Marrakech solidifies its status as Morocco’s tourism capital

Marrakech, recognized as Morocco's tourism capital, continues to draw thousands of visitors, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. The National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) emphasizes the city's ongoing appeal and strategic efforts by local stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Mustapha Amalik, the CNT Secretary General, highlighted that the entire Marrakech Safi region maintains a vibrant tourism dynamic year-round. He noted that diverse services offered by industry professionals cater to a wide range of tourists.

In statements to the Moroccan news agency MAP, Amalik pointed out that many visitors select Marrakech as their holiday destination during Ramadan, attracted by the city's rich cultural offerings. "Ramadan is an ideal time for innovation through the presentation of a rich and varied tourism product, where hospitality, sharing, solidarity, and spirituality come together," he remarked. The anticipated school holidays are expected to further enhance the influx of domestic tourists.

Earlier this month, Morocco's Tourism Ministry reported a notable increase in tourism, with nearly 2.7 million arrivals by the end of February. Marrakech stands out as a favored destination for both local and international tourists, consistently ranking highly in international travel publications.

TripAdvisor recently named Marrakech one of the “Best of the Best Travel Destinations” for 2025, describing the city as a “magical place.” The travel platform encourages visitors to explore the medina's open courtyards and winding alleyways, as well as the tranquility of the Jardin Majorelle and the beauty of historic mosques.

Last year, Morocco attracted over 17.4 million tourists, and the government is focused on increasing this number to at least 26 million by 2030.
