Marsa Maroc has emerged as the selected concessionaire for Terminals 1 and 5 at the Port of Cotonou in Benin, following a rigorous international selection process managed by Benin Handling S.A.

This decision represents a pivotal advancement in regional port management, allowing Marsa Maroc to extend its operational expertise beyond the borders of Morocco. Announced on Wednesday, the appointment underscores Marsa Maroc's strategic objectives under the "Marsa 2030" vision, which aims to expand its international footprint.

The forthcoming management agreement between Marsa Maroc and Benin Handling S.A. will address the seamless transition and operational takeover of the terminals. Marsa Maroc plans to leverage its extensive industry experience and robust global partnerships with major shipping companies to support Benin Handling S.A. in becoming a proficient operator within the regional logistics network.

In addition to ensuring operational readiness in line with international standards, Marsa Maroc intends to spearhead modernization projects at the terminals. These initiatives are designed to boost efficiency and align with the Beninese Government's development goals for the Port of Cotonou. A Marsa Maroc spokesperson highlighted, "This partnership underscores our commitment to South-South cooperation, bolstered by Royal High Directions, aimed at fostering economic growth across Benin's port ecosystem."
