Tens of thousands of people took to the streets across Brazil on Sunday to protest a proposed law that would expand parliamentary immunity and potentially grant amnesty to former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, who was sentenced to 27 years in prison for an attempted coup.

Demonstrators gathered in major cities, including São Paulo, voicing their opposition to the bill and warning that it could undermine the rule of law and accountability in the country. The protests reflect growing public concern over political impunity and the protection of officials from legal consequences.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s administration faces significant pressure as debates continue in Congress, with civil society groups calling for transparency and rejection of measures perceived as shielding politicians from justice.
