Mobile consulate brings vital services to Moroccan community in Toledo
The Moroccan Consulate General in Madrid launched a mobile consulate on Saturday in Toledo, central Spain, to provide crucial consular services to the local Moroccan community.
This initiative aligns with the Moroccan government’s policy of proximity, following the directives of King Mohammed VI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad. The mobile consulate aims to bridge administrative gaps and bring essential services closer to the Moroccan diaspora in Spain.
The Toledo region, home to a significant population of Moroccan immigrants, hosted this consulate for the first time. The event was met with a strong turnout from residents of Toledo and neighboring cities.
A variety of services were offered, including the issuance of biometric passports, electronic national identity cards, and legal documents such as adoulary deeds. Additionally, personalized assistance was provided for administrative, social, and notarial matters. Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the initiative, highlighting how it spared them the inconvenience of traveling to Madrid for essential formalities.
This effort was made possible through collaboration with local associations, which played a key role in facilitating the consulate's deployment. The Consul General, Kamal Arifi, held discussions with community representatives to outline measures undertaken by the Ministry to ensure accessible and high-quality services.
During the meeting, participants addressed the community’s primary concerns and reviewed ongoing structural reforms aimed at improving consular services. These reforms include simplifying administrative procedures, adopting digital systems, implementing appointment scheduling, and ensuring administrative support is more readily available to Moroccan nationals living abroad.
This mobile consulate underscores Morocco’s commitment to strengthening ties with its diaspora and enhancing the quality of consular services worldwide.
