Moroccan Minister Bensaid visits cultural and youth centers in Tetouan
Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, visited several cultural institutions and youth-focused platforms in Tetouan on Friday, accompanied by the provincial governor, Abderzak El Manssouri, and local officials.
The tour included the Sidi Daoud Educational Center, the Youth Hostel in the medina, and the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), where renovations and modernization works were recently completed.
During the visit, Minister Bensaid launched the “Kan Yama CAN” program, aimed at transforming youth centers into interactive spaces for broadcasting Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) matches, organizing sports activities, artistic and cultural workshops, and fostering dialogue and civic engagement.
The initiative is part of Morocco’s efforts to leverage national and international events to benefit young people and local businesses. Minister Bensaid emphasized the importance of listening to youth concerns and ensuring that programs address both social and economic opportunities.
The INBA reopening was highlighted as a key achievement, with enhanced pedagogical spaces and modern infrastructure supporting contemporary arts education. The institute now offers a master’s program in contemporary art and digital skills, with plans to introduce a doctoral program in the future.
