Moroccan referees receive prestigious FIFA badges at official ceremony

Key football officials gathered at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Mâamora on Wednesday to honor Moroccan referees receiving their FIFA badges. The ceremony, organized by the Central Refereeing Commission (CCA) and the National Refereeing Directorate (DNA), was held under the auspices of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the National Professional Football League (LNFP).

FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa emphasized that advancing Moroccan football heavily depends on refereeing development, which plays a crucial role in the national football system. He stressed the need for a constructive and realistic approach to identify and address gaps in referee development.

Lekjaa highlighted the delicate nature of refereeing, which demands quick and firm decision-making, underlining the importance of ethics and values alongside rules and technology. LNFP President Abdeslam Belkchour reinforced this message, advocating for greater focus on referees' technical development rather than dwelling on mistakes.

CCA President Bouchaib Lahrach described the newly appointed FIFA referees as ambassadors of Moroccan officiating on continental and international stages. He emphasized the need to maintain high standards in both local and international competitions.

DNA Director Redouane Jiyed stressed the significance of continuous training in improving refereeing standards, encouraging officials to maintain their dedication and commitment. The ceremony concluded with a tribute to retiring referees who had served extensively in national and international matches.

The event showcases Morocco's commitment to elevating its football officiating standards while recognizing both emerging and veteran referees who contribute to the sport's development.
