Morocco and Ethiopia strengthen defense cooperation
In line with high royal directives, Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, welcomed Aysha Mohammed Mussa, Ethiopia’s Minister of Defense, and her delegation during their official working visit to Morocco.
This visit aimed to deepen and diversify bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Ethiopia, highlighted by the signing of a military cooperation agreement. The agreement, signed in the presence of a senior military official, covers collaboration in training, joint exercises, scientific research, military health, and the exchange of expertise across various shared interests. It also establishes a joint military commission that will alternate meetings between Rabat and Addis Ababa to coordinate cooperation efforts.
Both defense ministers reviewed current bilateral cooperation and explored ways to further strengthen partnerships in common interest areas. They emphasized the constructive role both nations play in maintaining stability, security, and peace across Africa.
The meeting also showcased various South-South cooperation and regional integration initiatives launched under the leadership of the Moroccan monarchy, positioning Morocco as a key player in promoting stability and shared prosperity across the continent.
At the conclusion, both officials expressed their mutual ambition to reinforce these ties through the implementation of the defense cooperation agreement and regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.
