Morocco and Spain have taken a significant step toward modernizing judicial collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding during the High-Level Joint Commission meeting in Madrid. The agreement was finalized following discussions between Morocco’s Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, and Spain’s Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with the Courts, Félix Bolaños.

The memorandum outlines the creation of secure digital platforms for exchanging judicial and extrajudicial documents and establishes an electronic system for submitting and receiving international legal assistance requests. A joint working group will be formed to assess the technological, legal, and organizational requirements necessary for implementing these digital exchanges, focusing on three main areas: legal, organizational, and technological.

Both countries emphasized the importance of sharing expertise in judicial digital communication and integrating technological innovations to enhance efficiency, speed, and accessibility in justice systems. The agreement reinforces the ongoing efforts of Morocco and Spain to modernize their judicial cooperation while promoting a durable partnership based on mutual trust, reciprocity, and innovation.
