Morocco and UAE: A Strategic Security Alliance Deepens
In a significant diplomatic move, the ongoing visit of Abdellatif Hammouchi, the head of Morocco's DGSN-DGST, to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has solidified the commitment of both nations to enhance their security partnership. This visit, which spanned from September 23rd to 26th, has opened doors to extensive discussions and collaborations aimed at addressing shared security concerns.
During his visit, Hammouchi engaged with top officials and visited key security headquarters, including the Criminal Security Sector of Abu Dhabi Police. This sector plays a pivotal role in managing criminal investigations and overseeing critical divisions like the Drug Control Directorate and the Public Transport Security Division.
The visit's highlights included a review of the Special Patrols Security Division and an insightful presentation on the vehicles utilized for public safety and criminal policing. Furthermore, Hammouchi held discussions with the Criminal Security Sector, exploring avenues for mutual cooperation in criminal security and judicial police. The focus was on sharing expertise to enhance the capabilities of special patrols and criminal investigation teams.
A field visit to the Special Tasks Sector of Abu Dhabi Police further emphasized the commitment to securing sensitive facilities and managing official tasks. This visit underscored the UAE's dedication to maintaining a robust security apparatus.
One of the key outcomes of Hammouchi's visit was the signing of a memorandum of understanding. This agreement aims to strengthen institutional cooperation, focusing on capacity building and professional development through specialized training projects, workshops, and knowledge-sharing conferences.
This visit is part of a broader strategy by the DGSN to engage with international partners and foster a collaborative approach to security. Hammouchi's recent engagements with France and Turkiye, among other countries, and his hosting of international partners, reflect Morocco's proactive stance in addressing global security challenges.
