The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Commission has officially declared Senegal the loser by forfeit in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, granting Morocco a 3-0 victory. This decision upholds the appeal submitted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and overturns a previous ruling by the CAF disciplinary committee. The commission cited violations of Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations regarding the conduct of the Senegalese team.

In the same case, the Appeals Commission reduced certain penalties. Moroccan player Ismaël Saibari’s suspension has been shortened to two matches, with one match suspended, and his fine has been completely annulled. Additionally, some fines imposed on the federation have been lowered, although a financial penalty linked to an incident involving VAR technology has been maintained.

The ruling marks a significant moment in African football, highlighting CAF’s commitment to enforcing disciplinary standards and ensuring fair play in the continent’s premier competition.
