Morocco triumphed with a commanding 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025 quarterfinals, marking their first advancement to the semifinals in 21 years. The Atlas Lions showcased a masterful performance, blending tactical discipline and clinical execution to delight the home crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The hosts established dominance early in the match. Brahim Díaz opened the scoring in the 26th minute by heading in a corner delivered by Achraf Hakimi, with the ball slightly deflecting off Ayoub El Kaabi before finding the back of the net. The goal extended Díaz's remarkable streak to five consecutive matches with a goal in the tournament. Meanwhile, Morocco’s defense displayed exceptional organization, neutralizing Cameroon's counterattacks and securing a clean sheet.

The decisive second goal came in the 74th minute when Ismail Saibari capitalized on a well-executed free kick. Controlling the ball with his chest, he unleashed a stunning shot into the top corner, leaving Cameroon’s goalkeeper with no chance. Despite Morocco’s dominance in possession and numerous scoring opportunities, Cameroon's goalkeeper made several crucial saves to prevent a wider margin of defeat.

The victory propels Morocco into a much-anticipated semifinal clash against the winner of the Algeria versus Nigeria quarterfinal, to be held in Marrakech. With momentum building, the Atlas Lions continue their determined pursuit of continental glory.
