Morocco defeats Cameroon to secure CAN 2025 semifinal spot
Morocco triumphed with a commanding 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025 quarterfinals, marking their first advancement to the semifinals in 21 years. The Atlas Lions showcased a masterful performance, blending tactical discipline and clinical execution to delight the home crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The hosts established dominance early in the match. Brahim Díaz opened the scoring in the 26th minute by heading in a corner delivered by Achraf Hakimi, with the ball slightly deflecting off Ayoub El Kaabi before finding the back of the net. The goal extended Díaz's remarkable streak to five consecutive matches with a goal in the tournament.
