Morocco extends winning streak with victory over Mozambique
The Moroccan national football team continues its remarkable run under coach Walid Regragui after defeating Mozambique 1-0 in a friendly match on Friday evening in Tangier. Azzedine Ounahi scored the decisive goal, marking Morocco’s 17th consecutive victory.
According to the French sports daily L’Equipe, this winning streak highlights the team’s strong start in their newly renovated stadium. “The beautiful series continues for Walid Regragui’s men, who are now improving their own record,” the publication noted.
Since March 26, 2024, Morocco has remained unbeaten, with only a goalless draw against Mauritania interrupting their run. Their 17 consecutive wins surpass the previous record held by Spain, which achieved 15 straight victories between June 2008 and June 2009.
Morocco has the chance to further extend their streak in the upcoming friendly against Uganda on Tuesday. The team aims to build confidence ahead of hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next month.
