The USM Tennis Club in Casablanca hosted an intense clash between Morocco and Colombia in the Davis Cup Group 1 World Playoffs. The stakes were high, with the winner securing a coveted spot in the World Group 1.

The match featured a spirited Moroccan team, led by their charismatic captain Hicham Arazi, against a more experienced Colombian side that entered as the favorites. Despite the odds, Morocco's youthful energy and determination shone through in front of an electrifying crowd of over 3,000 fans across the two days.

The first day ended in a balanced score of 1-1, setting the stage for a decisive second day. The doubles match on Sunday morning tipped the scale, with Moroccan players Younès Lalami and Karim Bennani narrowly losing to a Colombian pair ranked in the top 100. The two sets were fiercely contested, both decided in tight tiebreaks.

With the score at 2-1 in favor of Colombia, Reda Bennani needed to repeat his stellar performance from the previous day to keep Morocco in contention. Backed by an enthusiastic Casablanca crowd, Bennani nearly pulled off a remarkable comeback. After losing the first set 6-1 in under 25 minutes, he fought back to claim the second set 6-4 in a gripping battle. However, fatigue caught up with him in the third set, and the Colombians secured their place in World Group 1.

Though the Moroccan team fell short, their valiant effort marked the end of a 20-year dry spell for the nation in the Davis Cup. The crowd, recognizing the team's determination and growth, gave the players a standing ovation, celebrating a new era for Moroccan tennis.
