The Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the National Airports Office signed a strategic partnership agreement on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Rabat-Salé Airport, marking a significant step in institutional cooperation aimed at improving the travel experience and logistical support for Morocco's national football teams and sports delegations.

The signing ceremony brought together Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and Adel El Fakir, Director General of the National Airports Office, along with senior officials and executives from both institutions. The event underscored the shared ambition of the two bodies to align their operational capacities in service of Moroccan football's growing domestic and international ambitions.

Under the terms of the agreement, the National Airports Office formally assumes the role of a key institutional partner to the federation, taking on responsibility for facilitating the movement of all national team categories through Moroccan airports. The deal provides for enhanced reception protocols, priority handling, and advanced logistical services designed to reduce friction and improve the overall experience for players, coaching staff, and accompanying delegations.

Beyond day-to-day team travel, the accord sets out a framework for deeper coordination in the organization of major football competitions hosted on Moroccan soil. This includes streamlining entry and transit procedures for foreign sports delegations, raising service standards for sports travelers, and developing joint operational mechanisms that can scale to meet the demands of large-scale international events.

The partnership arrives at a pivotal moment for Moroccan football. The kingdom has emerged as one of Africa's most prominent football nations, buoyed by the Atlas Lions' historic run to the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the country's successful bid to co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. Against this backdrop, the agreement positions the National Airports Office as a long-term structural partner in Morocco's football ecosystem, contributing directly to the organizational and logistical performance that major competitions demand.

Both institutions described the initiative as part of a broader joint effort to strengthen Morocco's standing as a premier sports destination at the continental and international level, reinforcing the kingdom's credentials as a major hub for football in Africa and across the world.
