Morocco’s DGSN announces results of annual police transfer program
Morocco's General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has announced the results of its annual police transfer program, with 1,506 officers from different ranks and professional specialties granted transfers this year.
The announcement was made on Monday, August 10, as part of the annual personnel mobility process covering police services and locations across the country.
The transfers affect officers working in security prefectures and regional directorates, police districts, local stations and central services.
Transfers based on regulatory criteria
According to the DGSN, the beneficiaries had submitted formal transfer requests and met the required legal and administrative conditions.
Eligibility included requirements relating to length of service and compliance with application deadlines. Authorities also considered personal circumstances, including family reunification needs, health-related situations and broader social considerations.
The approach reflects an effort to balance operational staffing requirements with the personal circumstances of police officers seeking reassignment.
More than 3,000 officers benefit from mobility measures
The 1,506 approved transfers form part of a broader personnel mobility system operated by the DGSN.
In total, 3,276 police officers benefited this year from the various mobility procedures implemented across the national security service.
The annual transfer exercise is generally organized during the summer and forms part of the DGSN's wider human resources strategy, which includes staff mobility and the redistribution of personnel among different services and geographic areas.
Priority given to family and social circumstances
The DGSN also highlighted its efforts to address cases involving particularly pressing personal circumstances.
This year, 200 officers received accelerated treatment of their applications under an urgent procedure. A further 1,570 officers were transferred through an exchange system between members of the police service.
Family reunification remains one of the factors considered when reviewing transfer applications, alongside health and social circumstances.
Managing police resources across Morocco
The annual process provides the DGSN with a mechanism for adjusting staffing levels while allowing officers to request assignments that better correspond to their personal situations.
By combining standard transfers, urgent applications and exchanges between officers, the system is designed to provide greater flexibility in managing Morocco's national police workforce.
The latest figures underline the scale of the DGSN's personnel management operations, with thousands of officers moving between services and locations as part of the country's annual police mobility cycle.
