Morocco’s Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch met with François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, on October 29, 2025, in Rabat. Joined by Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Riyad Mezzour, the meeting underscored the country’s commitment to bolstering its automotive sector and expanding Renault’s industrial ecosystem, a cornerstone of Morocco’s economic growth under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s leadership.

A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of an investment agreement addendum between the Moroccan government and Renault Group Morocco. Signed by Minister Mezzour and François Provost, the agreement aims to create 7,500 direct and indirect jobs while driving sustainable development in the automotive industry.

The partnership focuses on several strategic goals. In the short term, it includes renewing flagship vehicle models, while medium-term initiatives will see the development of an electric vehicle production line by 2030. This plan involves upgrading Renault’s industrial facilities, modernizing production lines, and enhancing workforce skills. The agreement also outlines the establishment of a dedicated research and development engineering center by late 2025, reinforcing Morocco’s role in hybrid and electric vehicle production.

Renault Morocco, a key player in the country’s industrial landscape, produced over 413,000 vehicles last year, with 90 percent exported to 68 countries. This robust export performance highlights Morocco’s position as a critical hub in the global automotive market.

This expanded partnership reflects Renault’s confidence in Morocco’s industrial capabilities and its commitment to advancing sustainable and innovative automotive solutions.
