Morocco’s Industry and Commerce Minister, Ryad Mezzour, has announced a significant achievement in the country’s industrial development. As of 2024, high- and medium-high-technology industries contribute over 50% of Morocco’s industrial added value, surpassing a key goal set for 2035 in the nation’s New Development Model by an impressive eleven years.

Speaking to the House of Representatives, Mezzour attributed this success to the country’s Investment Charter, which has attracted domestic and foreign investors by promoting advanced technologies in industrial projects. These innovations have not only enhanced economic value but also elevated Morocco’s global profile, ranking 57th in the Global Innovation Index and securing second place in Africa.

Expanding industrial zones

Mezzour also addressed questions about industrial infrastructure, revealing that Morocco now manages 14,500 hectares of developed industrial land. The government is committed to ensuring that all provinces have access to industrial zones, whether by rehabilitating existing areas or creating new ones.

The announcement underscores Morocco’s rapid transformation into a high-tech manufacturing hub and its growing influence in advanced technology sectors.
