Morocco takes a leap forward with heavy-duty truck production
Morocco’s industrial sector is entering a new phase with the launch of heavy-duty truck manufacturing, following its success in the automotive and aerospace industries. This new initiative is a result of a partnership between Premium Group and Chinese manufacturer Shacman, marking a significant step in the country’s transport industry.
The first "Made in Morocco" heavy-duty trucks are produced under the Shacman X6000 brand, featuring advanced technical specifications that make it a game changer for long-distance transportation. With a local integration rate of 40%, this project highlights Morocco’s industrial development potential, similar to the automotive sector where integration rates range between 60% and 70%. According to Premium Group, the Shacman X6000 redefines heavy-duty transport standards with its blend of performance, safety, and comfort.
The X6000 truck meets Euro 5 standards and has strong commercial potential both domestically and internationally, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. Powered by an engine with 380 to 550 horsepower, it produces a maximum torque of 2,350 Nm. The truck offers two transmission options: a 12-speed manual gearbox and a 16-speed automatic gearbox. With a fuel tank capacity of over 1,400 liters, it ensures exceptional range for long-haul trips, including routes to Europe and Africa.
Comfort and safety are also key features of the X6000. The truck includes a double bunk for long trips, an integrated air conditioning system designed for extreme temperatures, and numerous safety systems. These include a retardation system for managing descents, an Edictive Power Control system that optimizes driving through predictive road condition analysis, along with a fatigue detection system, lane departure assist, and advanced telematics for real-time fleet management.
Premium Group, a major player in Africa, offers a broad range of products and services across sectors such as construction, mining, transport, industry, agriculture, and irrigation. Shacman, a well-known Chinese manufacturer, specializes in heavy-duty trucks, dump trucks, tractors, buses, and a wide range of military and utility vehicles. This promising partnership paves the way for Morocco’s industrial expansion and international visibility.
