Morocco U17 women's team to compete in UNAF tournament in Tunisia
Morocco's Under-17 women's national football team will take part in the 2026 Union of North African Football (UNAF) Women's U17 Tournament, which will be held in Tunisia from July 16 to July 23.
The regional competition offers young players an important opportunity to gain international experience as Morocco continues investing in the development of women's football at youth level.
Four teams to contest the regional title
Organized as a round-robin championship, the tournament will feature four national teams: Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Botswana, according to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
Each team will play one another, with the final standings determining the tournament champion.
The competition is expected to serve as both a developmental platform for emerging talent and a valuable test ahead of future continental competitions.
Morocco's match schedule
Morocco will begin its campaign against Botswana on July 18 at Karam Stadium.
The team will then return to the same venue to face Libya on July 20 before concluding the tournament against host nation Tunisia on July 22 at Ariana Stadium.
The round-robin format means every match could prove decisive in the race for the title.
Continued investment in women's football
Morocco has significantly expanded its investment in women's football in recent years, strengthening youth development pathways alongside improvements at senior national team level.
Participation in regional tournaments such as the UNAF U17 competition allows young players to gain competitive international experience while supporting the federation's long-term strategy of building a sustainable talent pipeline.
The tournament is also expected to provide coaching staff with an opportunity to evaluate emerging players in a competitive environment against regional opposition.
