Morocco’s Pavilion at Paris Book Festival 2025 Unveiled by Bensaid
On the evening of Thursday, the Moroccan Pavilion at the 2025 Paris Book Festival, a prominent guest of honor at the event, was officially inaugurated by Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication. The festival, held at the Grand Palais in Paris, will run until April 13.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable figures, including French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati, President of the Île-de-France region Valérie Pécresse, and several prominent Moroccan and French personalities. Among them were André Azoulay, the King's advisor, Moroccan Ambassador to France Samira Sitail, the country’s Permanent Ambassador to UNESCO Samir Addahre, and Christian Cambon, President of the French-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Senate.
A number of Moroccan and French authors were also present at the event, which features 40 publishing houses as part of a special "Letters from Morocco" program. This diverse program will showcase 46 events highlighting Morocco’s rich literary landscape.
The Pavilion’s offerings include a comprehensive immersion into the country’s literary and artistic diversity, with 28 talks, 16 panels discussing literary and societal themes, 10 book presentations, and 2 live artistic performances (slam and theater). Additionally, there will be an international panel on the "Atlantic Destiny between France and Morocco," aligned with this year’s festival theme: "the sea."
Further attractions include a documentary on the Moroccan caftan and its craftsmanship, 15 interactive youth workshops (including creative weaving, zellige, and quizzes), and a musical storytelling event (The Chickpea’s Journey). Three special sessions will honor renowned Moroccan literary figures: Driss Chraïbi, Edmond Amran El Maleh, and Mohamed Khair-Eddine. Furthermore, the role of women in Moroccan literature will be spotlighted through discussions with prominent female authors.
