Netanyahu praises Israel Premier Tech for standing strong amid protests
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated on Friday the Israel Premier Tech cycling team for standing firm during the Vuelta a España despite facing unprecedented pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
The protests took place during the 12th stage of the race, covering 144.9 kilometers between Laredo and Los Corrales de Buelna, where demonstrators waving Palestinian flags confronted security forces.
In a statement shared on his official X account, Netanyahu expressed his support: “Bravo to Sylvan Adams and to the Israel cycling team for not giving in to hate and intimidation. You make Israel proud.”
The demonstrations, which have drawn attention from international media, highlight how political tensions in the Middle East are increasingly spilling over into global sports events. While athletes of the Israel Premier Tech team continue to compete, the controversy has underscored the intersection of politics, identity, and international competition.
