Nezha Bidouane secures third term as Morocco's sports-for-all federation president
Former double world champion in 400m hurdles Nezha Bidouane has secured a unanimous re-election as president of the Royal Moroccan Federation for Sport for All (FRMSPT), marking her third four-year term at the helm of the organization.
The electoral general assembly in Rabat, overseen by officials from the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, saw all 39 member associations endorse the federation's moral and financial reports for 2023-2024.
Under Bidouane's leadership, the federation has implemented wide-reaching sports initiatives through national caravans, sports days, and women's events, successfully engaging hundreds of thousands of participants across social classes and age groups. A flagship program launched during her tenure, "Victory Strides," drew approximately 70,000 participants in its first edition last year.
The federation orchestrated a nationwide mass sports campaign themed "Mass sport, a fundamental condition for building a healthy society," which traveled across Morocco from July 15 to August 5, coinciding with the 25th anniversary celebrations of King Mohammed VI's ascension to the throne.
A highlight of the federation's international outreach was the popular games festival in Assa on November 17-18, which brought together participants from 37 countries. The event, attended by the president of the International Federation of Sport for All and prominent sports figures, concluded with a peace and coexistence race promoting unity and friendship through athletics.
Following her re-election, Bidouane unveiled plans for a new strategic program with the incoming executive board. She emphasized the federation's distinctive approach of working with broad populations to nurture sporting talent, stating, "Our objective is to spread sports culture throughout Moroccan society."
The federation has successfully expanded its reach to all regions of Morocco, implementing comprehensive programs to integrate sports into daily life. The new executive board, featuring representatives from across the Kingdom, reflects the organization's commitment to promoting sports participation across all social categories.
