Norway increases defence budget by $12 billion through 2036

Norway announced on Friday that it will boost its long-term defence plan by 115 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $11.87 billion) through 2036.

The increase is part of a broader trend among NATO countries to strengthen military capabilities amid Moscow’s war in Ukraine and under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump.

With this additional funding, Norway’s defence spending is expected to reach 3.5% of its GDP by 2035, meeting the country’s NATO commitments. The government emphasized that the investment aims to enhance national security and ensure the country remains prepared for evolving regional and global threats.
