Hamar, Norway – September 8, 2025: A devastating house fire claimed the lives of four young women, aged 18 and 19, in the town of Hamar, southeast Norway, early Monday morning.

Police initially reported three fatalities, with one person missing, before later confirming that all four had perished. According to police inspector Liv Hilde Nytrøen, the victims were friends who had gathered at one of their homes “for a friendly get-together.”

The blaze broke out around 5 a.m. and quickly spread to a neighboring house. “It is too early to determine the cause of the fire,” said police operations chief Stig Cato Larsen at a morning press briefing. Authorities stressed that, at this stage, there is no evidence suggesting criminal intent.

Eyewitnesses told Norwegian media outlet VG that they heard “explosions,” “screams,” and saw large flames engulfing the property. Local officials have since activated a crisis unit to support families and residents shaken by the tragedy.
