Pakistan has praised the recent visit of Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, describing it as a crucial step toward deepening regional cooperation and expanding economic ties between the two countries.

During a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Jabbarov’s meetings—particularly with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif—focused on enhancing collaboration in energy, investment, and strategic connectivity.

“The discussions covered investment in oil pipelines, energy projects, and broader regional linkages, as well as our longstanding fraternal cooperation in the strategic sphere,” Andrabi said, calling the visit “very significant” for Pakistan.

Jabbarov also met Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar earlier in the week.
Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s proposal to create a Pakistan–Azerbaijan Joint Investment Company, with equal participation from both sides, and welcomed Azerbaijan’s interest in the country’s oil pipeline initiative. He further encouraged the Azerbaijani state energy firm SOCAR to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s upstream oil and gas sector.

Both governments emphasized their commitment to strengthening economic, energy, and strategic cooperation as part of broader efforts to reinforce regional connectivity.
