Palestinian refugees urge comprehensive dialogue with Lebanese government
Beirut, August 16, 2025 – Palestinian refugees in Lebanon have urged the Lebanese government to engage in a comprehensive dialogue aimed at addressing political, social, and security concerns.
Ra’fat Mara, media officer of the Hamas movement in Lebanon, stated that the refugees are committed to Lebanon’s stability and seek a constructive channel of communication with the authorities. “Our unity and resistance remain central pillars in countering occupation plans,” Mara said, according to the official National News Agency.
He stressed that the sacrifices of the Palestinian people reflect both the severity of Israeli military actions and their determination to preserve their land and identity.
The call for dialogue comes amid ongoing instability. Since October 2023, Hezbollah has launched attacks on northern Israel in support of Hamas, which escalated regional tensions. After months of cross-border exchanges, Israel intensified strikes in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah strongholds.
Although a ceasefire was reached in November last year, Israeli operations have persisted, with a military presence maintained in several strategic areas. Recently, Lebanese authorities requested the army to draft a plan for Hezbollah’s disarmament, a move strongly contested by the Shiite party.
