French singer Patrick Bruel has had his police custody extended by an additional 24 hours, according to a statement from the public prosecutor’s office on Tuesday.

The 67-year-old artist, known for his long career in French music and popular songs that marked several generations, is currently being questioned in Paris over allegations involving multiple women. The case is being handled by the Nanterre prosecutor’s office, which has centralized several ongoing procedures linked to the singer.

According to investigators, the current inquiry concerns allegations made by several women, including accusations of sexual assault and attempted rape dating back to different periods between the late 1990s and early 2010s. Authorities have indicated that multiple testimonies are being examined as part of a broader investigation involving a wider number of potential victims identified during the process.

The singer is also reportedly being questioned about separate allegations forwarded by foreign authorities as part of international legal cooperation. Bruel has denied all accusations against him.

Following the growing legal pressure, the artist has cancelled a significant part of his upcoming tour, which was scheduled to begin in Paris before continuing across several music festivals.
